Non-Profit Update

The Autism Spectrum Resource Center of Corpus Christi (ASRC) is in the beginning stages of becoming a non-profit agency.  We have our organizational structure and are slowly recruiting additional Board members.   We have completed the incorporation paperwork with the state and are in the process of finishing the necessary steps to apply for a 501(c) non-profit status.  It can take several months to hear back.

Meanwhile, we are meeting with some parents and professionals to learn more about what is needed in the community.   We are deciding how we can best service those on the spectrum and their families, while not repeating services currently offered in the Coastal Bend.  Some of the services we hope to provide are social skills and social activities, a peer/buddy system at the local schools, respite care, summer activities, possibly a group home, education services, and parent support for the newly diagnosed.

Of course, all of this takes time and money.  Like all non-profits, our ability to move forward is dependent upon donations, grants and volunteers.  We are thrilled to have so many people willing to help, and know that with all the dedicated parents and professionals out there, this agency will be successful.

We are graciously accepting donations to help us jump start the organization and supplement some on-going activities.  Please consider making a contribution; we need everyone's help.  If you would like to make a donation, please review the contact information on this site.  We appreciate everyone's collective enthusiasm for this agency and we hope to make the Coastal Bend a wonderful place to raise a child on the spectrum.  Let's take our next step!
